Cake brand Lola’s is marking its 20th anniversary with a limited-edition collection celebrating two decades of birthdays, weddings, office parties and, well, just about any excuse for a slice of cake.

Founded in 2006, the London born-and-bred brand has become a familiar name at celebrations across the UK, from first birthdays and milestone anniversaries to engagements, baby showers, leaving dos and promotions.

Now, to mark two decades in business, Lola’s has launched its 20th Anniversary Collection, available until the end of September.

The centrepiece is the limited-edition 20th Anniversary Cream Tea Scone Cake, which gives the classic British cream tea a rather more elaborate makeover.

The cake features layers of vanilla sponge, strawberry delifruit and clotted cream mascarpone made with Rodda’s Cornish clotted cream. It is designed as a centrepiece for sharing, bringing together the flavours of a traditional cream tea in cake form.

We’ve been lucky enough to try this cake creation and we can confirm it tastes as good as it looks. The sponge is light and moist, with generous lashings of the cream and jam, to create a quintessentially British cake showstopper.

The anniversary cake is available in three sizes: Small (5.5″), Medium (7″) and Large (9″), with customers also able to add a personalised message to the cake board.

Lola’s has also launched an anniversary cupcake box featuring three popular British flavours:

  • Cream Tea: Vanilla sponge, strawberry delifruit and clotted cream mascarpone, made with Rodda’s Cornish clotted cream, topped with a mini scone and a fresh strawberry. The classic British afternoon treat, made the Lola’s way.
  • Lemon Tart: Lemon sponge, lemon curd and lemon mascarpone, finished with a mini lemon curd tart. Bright, sharp and beautifully balanced.
  • Vanilla Jammy Dodger: Vanilla sponge, raspberry delifruit and pink buttercream, topped with a mini Jammy Dodger and fresh raspberries. A nostalgic nod to the biscuit-tin classics that have been part of British celebrations for generations.

The collection is intended as a celebration of Lola’s own milestone, while also recognising the millions of occasions the brand says its cakes have been part of over the past 20 years.

So, whether you have a birthday to celebrate or simply need a suitably British excuse to eat cake, Lola’s anniversary collection is around until the end of September.

“Twenty years ago, Lola’s set out to be the cake brand that shows up for people, and that’s exactly what we’ve tried to be,” says Asher Budwig, Managing Director of Lola’s.

“For our 20th anniversary, we wanted to create something joyful, nostalgic and unmistakably British, while still feeling very Lola’s. The Cream Tea Scone Cake is our way of celebrating the people and occasions that shaped the brand over the last two decades.”
