In light of the upcoming pedestrianisation of Oxford Street on Monday 26th October, The Mayfair Chippy, London’s luxe fish and chip shop with locations in Mayfair and Knightsbridge, is giving back to the capital’s cab community who are, to put it mildly, a bit side-swiped by no longer being able to take their passengers along the famous London street. London black cab drivers will be offered complimentary fish and chips, alongside a buy one get one free offer for customers who arrive by cab this Autumn.
Black cab drivers are already a trade under significant pressure and the pedestrianisation of Oxford Street is set to further impact the accessibility of routes drivers have used for years. Since The Mayfair Chippy opened its doors in 2015, black cab drivers have continually helped put the iconic fish and chip shop on the map for tourists and locals across the city.
Every Tuesday throughout November, The Mayfair Chippy will offer the first 50 black cab drivers free takeaway fish and chips from its Mayfair site.
The restaurant is further supporting its cabbie community by offering any customers who arrive via black cab a special offer – buy one get one free on its signature Mayfair Classic dish, available to redeem with a valid black cab receipt from Friday 26th October – Thursday 31st December.
This promotion highlights The Mayfair Chippy’s commitment to the black cab industry and recognises how integral cabbies are to London’s transport culture. The initiative aims to spread extra delicious joy to drivers and customers this Autumn.
