Donald Trump apparently wants to nominate FIFA President Gianni Infantino to be the next secretary-general of the United Nations.
It’s no secret that Trump and Infanfino share one of the cringiest and pathetic bromances in the world. From awarding him the FIFA Peace Prize to changing the rules of football for him, Infantino has been sucking up to the US president ever since he returned to the White House.
Well, now it sounds like Trump is going to try and return the favour in the most ridiculous manner possible.

The New York Post reports that Trump wants to nominate Infantino to one of the most prestigious diplomatic positions in the world – the United Nations Secretary-General.
A source told the publication that Trump believes Infantino is “respected by everyone around the world, and recognizes he has a special ability to bring people together.”
The position of secretary will be up for grabs later this year when António Guterres of Portugal retires at the end of December.
In order to be chosen as secretary-general, Infantino would need to win the endorsement of the 15-member Security Council. This seems unlikely as the five permanent members, China, France, Russia, the United Kingdom and the US, all hold vetoes on the matter.
If Infantino did get the endorsement of the security council, he would then need confirmation by the General Assembly.
It is not clear whether Infantino is interested in the position.
