The first trailer of John Cleese’s GB News show has been released, featuring some A-list celebrities and fond Monty Python memories.
Cleese announced he would be joining the channel as a presenter in 2022, taking a regular spot on the channel to speak out against “woke culture”.
Appearing on Radio 4âs Today show, Cleese said that he hadnât initially heard of the channel when he received the invite.
âI was approached and I didnât know who they were,â he said. âI donât know much about modern television because Iâve pretty much given up on it.â
However, Cleese met with two members of the production team, who told the comedian that GB News was not a âright-wing channelâ, but rather a âfree-speech channelâ.
Cleese said he would discuss issues surrounding cancel culture and âwokeâ politics on his show.
âThe nice thing about talking to the GB News audience is that they may not be used to hearing the sort of things Iâll be saying.
âThe BBC have not come to me and said, âWould you like to have some one-hour shows?â and if they did, I would say, âNot on your nelly!â I wouldnât get five minutes into the first show before Iâd been cancelled or censored.â
In a brand new trailer, the comedy legend is seen in conversation with a plethora of A-list names such as Stephen Fry, Caitlyn Jenner, Tim Rice and Trevor McDonald.
The 10-part series will begin airing on Sunday 29th October at 9pm, with Cleese telling GB News the process of making the show has been âextraordinaryâ.
