Andy Burnham had a brilliant response for Kemi Badenoch after she described him as a “pair of eyelashes and a black T-shirt.”
Badenoch delivered the quip at this week’s prime minister’s questions, the first since Keir Starmer announced he was stepping down as Labour leader.
During a feisty PMQs, Badenoch made a number of references to Burnham and was criticised by the Speaker for comments describing Labour MPs as ‘traitors.’
One of her more bizarre lines from the session though was when she said that Labour MPs had abandoned Starmer for a “pair of eyelashes and a black T-shirt.”
Whilst Starmer batted away the barbs from the Tory leader, Burnham also decided to address the comment later in the day, but in a very different manner.

Taking to social media, the Makerfield MP shared a video of himself checking the colour of his T-shirt before saying: “It’s dark blue actually.”
As was pointed out by several people online, it’s safe to say Burnham will have a different communication style to Starmer should he become prime minister, as seems very likely.
