We can all agree Count Binface put in a sterling effort in the Clacton by-election campaign. The intergalactic space warrior won almost 10,000 votes in his battle with Farage, taking just over a quarter of the vote.
Farage ultimately won the seat with 22,2239 (63.34%) votes, meaning the parliamentary standards investigation into his secret £5m ‘gift’ from a crypto billionaire can finally get back under way.
This was far and away his best ever election performance and, as he pointed out himself after the results were declared on Friday morning, represented a 10,000% increase on his number of votes in the Makerfield by-election.
But there’s an amusing stat that also highlights how impressive Count’s performance was – he did better than Liz Truss did at the general election.

In 2024, the UK’s shortest serving prime minister was dealt an embarrassing defeat as she lost her South West Norfolk seat.
Labour turfed Truss out of her seat, with now-MP Terry Jermy beating the Tory candidate by 630 votes.
Truss won 11,217 votes in the Norfolk seat, representing 25.3% of the turnout.
So, on vote share, Count Binface performed better in Clacton.
It can probably now be said that Count Binface is a more relevant and popular figure in British politics than Liz Truss.
