Nigel Farage’s finances are coming under scrutiny again after it emerged he and his partner own a property empire worth a combined £4 million – but have only declared two of the five homes.

According to the Times, the Reform UK and Laure Ferrari own at least five homes across Surrey, Essex and Kent.

Land Registry Records show all but one of the properties were bought with cash since 2020. The other was secure in 2017 following Farage’s split from his second wife.

However, there are questions for the Clacton MP as he has only declared two of the properties under the land and property section of the register of members’ interests.

The revelations comes as Farage is under investigation from the Parliamentary Standards Authority over whether he should have declared a £5m payment from crypto billionaire Christopher Harborne in 2024.

Farage is said to be concerned about the possibility of a by-election in his Clacton constituency should he be found to have breached Commons rules.

The Times reports that one of Farage’s properties is a five-bedroom home in Surrey woodland which was bought for £1.42 million in May 2024 and features a 530 sq ft living room and a cast-iron spiral staircase.

Farage told the publication this was his main residence but that he recently spent “half his week” at a property in Clacton which is owned by Ferrari. This property does not have to be declared because it is legally owned by Ferrari, although there are questions from some over how she was able to afford the property without a mortgage.

Farage’s third home is a Kent property where he used to live with his second wife Kirsten Farage. He retained sole ownership following their split, but this property is not declared on his registers of interests.

It is currently occupied by Isabelle Farage, one of the couple’s adult children. A Reform spokesman told the Telegraph this meant Farage did not have to register this home because MPs are not required to declare properties if close family members lived there.

Farage also owns two beachfront homes on the Kent coast as well as a parcel of land next to the beach. These are held through his company, Thorn in the Side Ltd.

The Reform leader said the reason one of the beachfront properties is not on the register is because it is owned by his company, so appears separately under the “shareholdings” section of the register.

The other beachfront home is also not declared. Farage has not provided an explanation for this.

The Reform spokesman said Farage consulted with parliamentary authorities over which of his properties to declare, and had been assured that they were satisfied with his arrangements. They added that his financial affairs were “all above board”.
