Farage blasts Burnham for not inviting him into social care conversations – gets reminded he’s not an MP

Has Nigel forgotten he's not actually an MP at the moment?

Nigel Farage has thrown his toys out the pram after Andy Burnham didn’t invite him to a conversation over social care in England.

On Wednesday, Burnham will meet with Conservative Party leader Kemi Badenoch and Lib Dem leader Ed Davey to discuss how to reform social care.

Burnham has made social care reform in England one of his main aims as prime minister, having openly said he is willing to spend ‘whatever political capital I have’ on addressing the issue.

“I’m serious about fixing this issue and to do that, we have to find common ground and listen to others,” Burnham said on Tuesday.

It wasn’t long after the announcement that Nigel Farage piped up though, reacting angrily to the fact he wasn’t invited to the talks.

He said: “It’s now clear that Burnham is conspiring behind closed doors to foist further tax rises on the country.

“The fact Davey and Badenoch are going tells you all you need to know… this is the uniparty in action.”

But it seems Farage has forgotten a crucial detail that would explain why he wasn’t invited to these talks – he’s not an MP.

It must have slipped poor Nigel’s mind that he resigned as an MP so he could spark an attention-seeking by-election in Clacton again, where he’ll be running against Count Binface.

Many were keen to remind Farage of this, with a community note quickly appearing underneath a tweet about his anger.

It helpfully explains: “Nigel Farage officially resigned his seat as Member of Parliament for Clacton on July 8, 2026. As he is no longer an active MP, he cannot vote, introduce legislation or amendments, or participate in House of Commons debates alongside other MPs like Burnham, Badenoch and Davey.”

A number of other people made the same points, whilst others asked why the leader of a party with only seven MPs in the Commons would expect to be invited to these talks.

He’s not an MP? Why would he invite him?

Last time I checked, he resigned from his position… So on what grounds will he be invited?

— Chibuike Udoji (@IkemRaph) July 28, 2026

Such a sour man. He isn’t an MP and his party has a tiny % of MPs. Not to mention his party is literally made of up of “uniparty” failures.

Reform are lying when they moan about Farage not being invited.

Farage is no longer a sitting MP so cannot be invited to these discussions.

Now, let's go back to why he called a by-election. Was it something to do with finances? https://t.co/SCbgpv6riC

Confirmation that Nigel Farage believes himself above the law.

He resigned as an MP to avoid an investigation into his own dodgy funding, but STILL thinks he should be involved in governmental discussions.

He never turns up to work as it is.

1. Why would you be invited if you have zero intention of helping those suffering in the current social care system??

2. Apparently it's only a democratic outrage when Nigel Farage isn't invited. Funny how nobody's demanding to know why Zack Polanski wasn't there either. Not… https://t.co/2mDaqDh2Pk
