After just a week as prime minister, Andy Burnham has already taken Labour to their first polling lead in over a year.
Burnham has wasted no time in getting to work since moving into Number 10, having made a number of significant and largely welcomed policy announcements.
This has had an immediate impact on Labour’s popularity and now, for the first time in almost a year and half, the party have overtaken Reform at the top of a major poll.

New polling from More in Common has given Labour a four point lead over Reform who fall into second after a two point drop in support.
This is the highest Labour vote share recorded by the pollster in since the end of 2024.
Along with being the first time Labour have topped a poll from an established pollster since April 2025, it is also the biggest lead the party has had since March 2025.
This polling crossover comes after a noticeable increase in support for Labour over the last four weeks, as it became clear Andy Burnham would be replacing Keir Starmer as party leader and prime minister.
At the same time, Reform and their leader Nigel Farage have been dogged by controversies and self-inflicted by-elections against Count Binface.
In recent days, there has also been a major shift in the betting markets in regards to the next general election, with Reform seeing their chance of victory drop by a third with the bookies.
Despite this, Burnham has ruled out calling an early general election.
Speaking to the BBC in his first major interview as prime miniser, Burnham said he did not think the public want another general election.
