We may not even have reached the end of October yet, but no doubt plenty of you will already by thinking about Christmas and what presents to buy people.
Well, if this is you and you have a politically-minded friend or family member in your life who also loves a laugh, look no further for your gift to them because Liz Truss is bringing out a book!
The woman who infamously managed less than 50 days in Number 10 is writing a book all about the very thing that sparked her resignation: the catastrophic mini-budget she concocted alongside Kwasi Kwarteng.

For a book written by the UK’s shortest serving prime minister in history, it is appropriately described as a “short” book, and it is about “how the Bank of England broke the bond market and brought down the government.”
A press release about the book, called Bank Job, says it will “lift the lid on what really happened around the Mini-Budget in 2022, challenging the establishment narrative and examining in particular the role of the unaccountable Bank of England”.
Since resigning as prime minister, Truss has repeatedly spouted conspiracies about how the ‘deep state’ and Bank of England torpedoed her premiership because they didn’t want her to succeed.
To go with its nonsense premise though, the book has an equally ludicrous Reservoir Dogs-style front cover, which shows Truss sat behind a government desk with a red ministerial box.
Behind her are stood five men in sunglasses. They appear to be former prime ministers Gordon Brown Tony Blair, ex-Bank of England governors Mark Carney and Mervyn King, and former chancellor George Osborne.
It’s safe to say, Truss’s book announcement has been met with wide-spread mockery about everything from its subject matter to its front cover.
Reacting to the book, Sir Conor Burns, who served as Truss’s own trade policy minister, launched a scathing attack.
He said: “Here is a summary: she announced £100 billion of uncosted energy ‘support’. The markets and the party realised she was a nut job and financially illiterate. And she was, mercifully, ejected.
“She is now an international embarrassment with zero self awareness.”
Well, if nothing else, Bank Job will be a laugh-a-minute, entertaining read, no doubt.
