There’s rarely a week goes by without a Reform councillor resignation, defection or sacking – and this week has proved no different.
Up in Kirklees, where Reform councillors previously admitted to not understanding local government procedures, there has been yet more chaos.
Just 57 days after being elected as a Reform representative, councillor Susan Maxfield has decided to switch allegiances and ditch the party, Yorkshire Live reports.
The Liversedge and Gomersal councillor will now sit as an independent on Kirklees council, where Reform are the biggest party but do not hold a majority.

In a statement, Reform Group Leader Sarah Wood said: “I can confirm that Cllr Susan Maxfield has resigned the Reform UK whip and will now sit as an Independent councillor on Kirklees Council.
“Reform UK was elected by residents to provide strong, effective leadership for Kirklees. Our priority remains unchanged, and the Group remains focused on delivering better services, restoring sound financial management and standing up for the communities we represent.
“We remain committed to working constructively with councillors from across the chamber wherever it is in the best interests of the people of Kirklees.”
