The Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) regulation has reshaped digital asset services in the European Economic Area (EEA) and made adherence to the law a priority when a user decides to go crypto in 2026. Consumers should look for a platform that has a license, asset segregation, operational standards, payment solutions, and fee disclosure instead of just taking the platform’s marketing claims seriously.

All platforms that we’ve included in our list have MiCA licenses, but they also provide numerous other benefits to the users. Paybis offers a simple exchange flow, Bitpanda and Bitstamp provide wide multi-asset access, while Coinbase and Kraken facilitate advanced trading options.

Note that MiCA means more extensive protection for investors and improved supervision, but it does not ensure profits or eliminate risks.

What Should a MiCA-Licensed Crypto Platform Provide?

Each MiCA authorisation licence is unique and is subject to an exact list of regulated activities covered. It is up to the user companies to check whether all MiCA-permitted products and services can actually be provided within the scope of the specific licence granted. Because of this, before you go and sign a service with your preferred provider, it is a good idea to use this breakdown as an initial checklist:

MiCA-Licensed Platform Checklist

  • Confirmed MiCA/CASP authorisation – The legal entity which carries on the business should be listed on the national regulator’s register or white-list of ESMA/AMF.
  • Clear legal entity – Service providers must make sure their corporate details are clearly shown, and customers are not misled by relying on the trade name only.
  • Licensing country and regulator – Authorisation should come from an EEA supervisory body like Latvijas Banka, FMA of Austria or CSSF of Luxembourg.
  • Authorised crypto services – The permission granted must refer explicitly to the services the company offers, including custody, exchange of fiat to crypto, making orders, transfer services, etc.
  • Crypto-fiat access – It is crucial that there are regulatory payment or exchange schemes in place through which customers can freely exchange fiat money and crypto.
  • Wallet or custody – A fair explanation of the platform’s terms regarding custody of separated customer assets versus self-custody transfer should be made.
  • Fee transparency – The user shall be fully informed about the different fees — execution, exchange spread, and network transfer — before an order is placed.
  • KYC/AML process – Authorised entities implement a uniform approach to checking customers’ identities and fighting money laundering, because of this maintaining the whole system’s integrity.
  • Regional availability – Even though MiCA opens the doors of business without borders within the EEA, the actual availability of the products might still differ regionally.

5 MiCA-Licensed Crypto Platforms in 2026

The service providers listed below have been granted confirmed MiCA and CASP authorisation, verifiable in European regulatory databases.

Paybis

Paybis works as a fiat-to-crypto platform licensed under MiCA through SIA Paybis Europe, which owns crypto-asset services and payment institution licences issued by Latvijas Banka. Besides, regulatory organisations in European countries, like France’s Autorité des Marchés Financiers (AMF), confirm its status as “Licensed MiCA,” while Latvia is regarded as the licensor country of origin.

The authorised services from Paybis include custody of crypto-fiat and crypto-crypto conversion, order execution, transfers, crypto advisory, as well as payments of all sorts.

Bitpanda

Bitpanda is one of the biggest digital asset brokers in Central Europe, and they carry out their activities following MiCA compliance. Bitpanda GmbH, the company which runs the business, recently got a CASP authorisation in writing from the Financial Market Authority (FMA) of Austria under Article 63 of MiCAR.

Apart from the Austrian regulator, several other European Economic Area (EEA) secondary registers label Bitpanda GmbH as “Licensed MICA.” The scope of their license covers asset custody, execution of orders, transfer services, and the trading of crypto against fiat.

Coinbase

Coinbase Luxembourg S.A. is Coinbase’s European Economic Area operating unit. It was granted MiCA CASP authorisation by the Luxembourgish Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier (CSSF). It is publicly listed on the AMF white list.

Under the laws of Luxembourg, Coinbase Luxembourg S.A. delivers crypto custody, fiat exchange, and transaction execution services. Users not only get exposure to global liquidity with an entity also subject to strict EEA regulatory disclosures.

Kraken

The main company providing exchange services in Europe is Payward Europe Solutions Limited, which was incorporated in Dublin by Kraken. The company has a MiCA license granted by the Central Bank of Ireland (CBI), and it is listed on international registration services like the AMF’s white list in France.

Payward Europe Solutions is licensed in crypto custody, fiat and crypto trading, order execution, portfolio management, order placement, and transfer operations. With a totally Irish regulatory passport and a high turnover in order books, it is safe to say that Kraken is a top-notch choice for pro traders.

Bitstamp

As one of the industry’s venues open for the longest time, Bitstamp keeps its European presence via Bitstamp Europe S.A. The company was granted the official MiCA approval by Luxembourg’s CSSF, registering the company on the European supervisory register.

Thanks to its CASP license, Bitstamp has access to crypto custody, order execution, and fiat-to-crypto conversion services. The platform is regarded for its high operational stability.

Ready to Choose a MiCA-Licensed Crypto Platform?

Working in the European crypto space means finding a suitable compromise between ease of use, asset range, and legal protection of your money. Choosing a platform that has a clear and confirmed MiCA authorisation not only shows that your asset provider is a player under European rules but also that your funds are protected through the segregation of accounts and that you pay a transparent price. Consider what you value as the main features of trading (speedy fiat handling, wide-range custody, or complex order matching) and decide on the platform that is best matched to your monetary plan.

FAQs

Through MiCA legislation, EU Member States have approved several exchanges, including Paybis (SIA Paybis Europe), Bitpanda (Bitpanda GmbH), Coinbase (Coinbase Luxembourg S.A.), Kraken (Payward Europe Solutions Limited), and Bitstamp (Bitstamp Europe S.A.), plus many others that are licensed at the national level by authorities.

Is XRP MiCA compliant?

XRP itself is not “MiCA-approved” as a token, but it is fully compatible with MiCA and can be offered legally in the EU through licensed providers.

Will Binance be MiCA compliant?

As part of Binance’s efforts to meet MiCA requirements, the company has been shifting focus to its European operations, where it is adapting local legal entities and even stablecoin listings to the expectations of national regulators and ESMA standards in these member states.

Which crypto to mine in 2026?

Mining profits are first and foremost influenced by hardware efficiency and the price to charge for an electricity unit. The proof-of-work cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin (BTC), Kaspa (KAS), and Ravencoin (RVN) are still the main cryptocurrencies for ASIC and GPU mining, but the EU energy regulations require mining ventures to plan their operations carefully.
