Robert Jenrick gave a rattled response after he was asked if he has “defector’s remorse”.
It’s now just over nine months since Jenrick made his explosive switch from the Conservatives to Reform. At the time, Reform were riding high in the polls, and it seemed that the party had replaced the Tories on the right of British politics.
But fast-forward a few months and it’s all very different now for the teal right-wingers.
The party and its leader Nigel Farage have been embroiled in controversy and chaos, suffered shock by-election defeats and are now languishing behind both Labour and the Tories in the polls.

Most recently, Jenrick and Farage were left somewhat red-faced as they both appeared before a half-empty hall in what was meant to be Reform’s big pre-Budget event.
So, during an appearance on Good Morning Britain on Thursday, Jenrick was asked by presenter Paul Brand if he feels any “defector’s remorse” after events of recent weeks.
“You’re tanking in the polls, you gave a speech to a half-empty hall this week, councillors are being revealed to be racist within your party – this is not quite the career move you hoped it would be surely,” Brand said.
A rattled Jenrick responded by labelling the GMB presenter a “left-wing commentator and activist” who “obviously doesn’t want Reform to succeed.”
“You always ask negative questions about Reform,” Jenrick whinged.
The claims were refuted by Brand, who said he gives equal scrutiny to all parties.
“This is what parties say when they feel uncomfortable quite frankly Mr Jenrick,” he added.
But the Newark MP still grumbled about Brand for “editorialising.”
Sharing the clip on X, the Labour party said Jenrick was “rattled” and “desperate.”
We wouldn’t blame Jenrick for having some regrets, given that polls suggest both him and hid fellow defector Suella Braverman are on course to lose their seats at the next general election.
